Department of Telecommunication (DoT) ordered all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in India to block around 827 porn websites, Reliance Jio has blocked all these adult websites for its users.
If you a Reliance Jio user and your access to porn websites has being blocked? Then you are not alone. Reliance Jio has banned porn websites in India after the order from Department of Telecommunication (DoT) to block 827 such adult websites in the india. While Reliance Jio hasn’t made any official statement that it will be banning such websites on its network, some users have reported that they are not able to access porn websites on the Jio network.
A Reliance Jio user wrote on Reddit "I've been trying to load a few of the porn sites but none of them seems to load on the Jio network. Is it just me or are you people facing the same issues,". It should be noted that while popular adult website have been banned by the JIO, some lesser known sites were working on the network.
The Uttarakhand High Court, in a judgment on Sept 28, directed all internet service providers (ISP) to comply with the government's order under which almost all porn websites were to be banned. The High Court stated that there is a need to control unlimited access to adult content or block such well known websites as they result in adverse influence on impressionable youth.
After this order the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) ordered ISPs to block over 800 porn websites which having adult content. The other telecommunication service providers might soon follow suit and ban porn websites on their networks.
